Msgr. Filardi was born in October of 1965. He is the oldest of five children to Joan and
Ed Filardi . He was raised in Columbia Maryland but lived in various states while moving
occasionally due to his father’s job.
He graduated from LaSalle University in Philadelphia in 1987 with a degree in Economics. He
worked for the Bureau of Labor Statistics in DC before entering Mount Saint Mary’s
Seminary in Emmitsburg , MD for the Archdiocese of Washington in 1990.
He was ordained a priest in 1994 and has served at Saint Martin of Tours, Gaithersburg and
Holy Redeemer in Kensington. In 2001, he worked as a priest secretary for Cardinal McCarrick
and Assistant Vocations Director. In March 2005, he became a Monsignor and accompanied
the Cardinal to the papal funeral and election in April 2005.
He became Pastor of Saint Stephen Martyr parish in the Foggy Bottom neighborhood of
Washington, in July 2005.
